Chashma Hydropower Project EM-1 Contract(184MW)

Chashma Hydropower Station is a Project of Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority(WAPDA). It was constructed on the River Indus at Mianwali District of Punjab Province. WAPDA partially utilized funds from Loan by ADB, Citibank(Tokyo) to Government of Pakistan and partially from its own resources for the construction.
Marubeni Corporation, in association with Fuji Electric Co. Ltd. who is internationally reputed company in the field of manufacturing of Low Head Type Bulb Turbine Generator, participated in International Tender in April 1992 and was awarded the Contract in December 1994 for the amount of J.Yen 11 billion.
The Contract award to Marubeni as main Contractor was on the Turnkey Basis for execution and completion of Bulb-Turbine Generator portion. The Construction work, though suspended for approx. 2 and half years for reasons attributable to the owner, was substantially completed in July 2001 with the generation of electricity from all the eight number of 23MW Bulb-Turbine Generators. Since then, the Plant is running in excellent condition. It is one of major sources of power supply in the region and is contributing in economic development of the country.
